Create Your Communications Plan (Residential)

1. COLLECT. Create a paper copy of the contact information for your family and other important people/offices, such as medical facilities, doctors, schools, or service providers.

2. SHARE. Make sure everyone carries a copy in his or her backpack, purse, or wallet. If you complete your Family Emergency Communication Plan online at ready.gov/make-a-plan, you can print it onto a wallet-sized card. You should also post a copy in a central location in your home, such as your refrigerator or family bulletin board.

3. PRACTICE. Have regular household meetings to review and practice your plan.

Create Your Communications Plan (Commercial)

1. COLLECT. Create a paper copy of the contact information for your staff and other important people/offices, such as facility operations, upper management, or vendors that you may need services from. 

2. SHARE. Make sure your staff knows where to find this information or has easy access to obtain it at any time. If you complete your Business Emergency Communication Plan online at ready.gov/business/implementation/emergency, you can print it out and post copies in central locations of your workplace, such as a bulletin board in the office, breakroom and clock in area.

3. PRACTICE. Have regular staff meetings to review and practice your plan.

Gather Supplies – Build Your Kit

To assemble your kit, store items in airtight plastic bags and put your entire disaster supplies kit in one or two easy-to-carry containers such as plastic bins or a duffel bag.

A basic emergency supply kit could include the following recommended items:

  • Water (one gallon per person per day for at least three days, for drinking and sanitation)
  • Food (at least a three-day supply of non-perishable food)
  • Battery-powered or hand crank radio and a NOAA Weather Radio with tone alert
  • Flashlight
  • First aid kit
  • Extra batteries
  • Whistle (to signal for help)
  • Dust mask (to help filter contaminated air)
  • Plastic sheeting and duct tape (to shelter in place)
  • Moist towelettes, garbage bags and plastic ties (for personal sanitation)
  • Wrench or pliers (to turn off utilities)
  • Manual can opener (for food)
  • Local maps
  • Cell phone with chargers and a backup battery

Additional Emergency Supplies

Now, the CDC has recommended people include additional items in their kits to help prevent the spread of coronavirus or other viruses and the flu.

Consider adding the following items to your emergency supply kit based on your individual needs:

  • Cloth face coverings (for everyone ages 2 and above), soap, hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes to disinfect surfaces
  • Prescription medications
  • Non-prescription medications such as pain relievers, anti-diarrhea medication, antacids or laxatives
  • Prescription eyeglasses and contact lens solution
  • Infant formula, bottles, diapers, wipes and diaper rash cream
  • Pet food and extra water for your pet
  • Cash or traveler's checks
  • Important family documents such as copies of insurance policies, identification and bank account records saved electronically or in a waterproof, portable container
  • Sleeping bag or warm blanket for each person
  • Complete change of clothing appropriate for your climate and sturdy shoes
  • Fire extinguisher
  • Matches in a waterproof container
  • Feminine supplies and personal hygiene items
  • Mess kits, paper cups, plates, paper towels and plastic utensils
  • Paper and pencil
  • Books, games, puzzles or other activities for children

We refuse to cut corners or eliminate a step in our process to reduce costs. We would rather charge fair prices, work hard to gain our customer's trust and deliver the service level they expect. We build trust one customer at a time.

Other companies may offer incredible deals to get their foot in the door only to get the job and then make a huge upsell pitch. Unfortunately, while this is a painful reality, rest assured we will never offer a service to a customer if they don’t need it. Our techs are trained to make suggestions ONLY if they see a customer would benefit from an additional service.

Our view is that it’s unethical to upsell a service that isn't needed. We are not in the one-time transaction business; we are building lifetime customer relationships within both the residential and commercial markets. By building that trust with our customers and staying true to our work, our customers return year after year.
